NEIGHBORS FOR SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT ON VENICE BEACH
As a community, we seek to oppose and/or downscale the misrepresented,
proposed office-retail project at
601 Ocean Front Walk & Sunset Ave on Venice Beach.

UPDATE 09/23/2017: WE WON! THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE BUILT!
On 9/07/16 the West LA Planning Commission denied the project. But the developer sued
the City to reverse that decision. The court granted our motion to become a party in that suit. Finally, on 9/12/17 the developer withdraw his lawsuit.
And so THE DENIAL WILL STAND AND THE PROJECT WILL NOT BE BUILT.
We couldn't have won this struggle without everyone's participation and support.
THANK YOU!!!!

Speedway Alley, directly back from the beach, is the bottleneck that limits how much development Venice Beach can handle. Beach goers, businesses along the Boardwalk (Ocean Front Walk, OFW), and residents on the adjacent Walk Streets all depend on Speedway for access. Speedway also serves as a pedestrian and recreational extension of the Boardwalk.
- Speedway is a 20ft wide alley, without sidewalks, parking or delivery zones and runs parallel to the beach for 1.5 miles between the Santa Monica border and Washington Blvd. - Speedway lacks good access from regular vehicular streets. - Speedway is already a choke point for beach access, traffic and parking. |
