UPDATE: 09/23/17
WE WON! THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE BUILT!
Subsequent to the Planning Commission's denial of the project on 9/07/16, the developer sued the City on 9/30/16 to reverse the Commission's denial. By April, 2017 the City Attorney's office had prepared the official Administrative Record of the case, running to over 1000 pages. In July, 2017 the Court granted our motion to intervene and become a party in the developer's suit. Finally, on 9/12/17 the developer withdraw his lawsuit.
And so THE COMMISSION'S DENIAL WILL STAND AND THE PROJECT WILL NOT BE BUILT.

The West LA Planning Commission affirmed our Appeal and denied the project on 9/7/16, reversing a Zoning Administrator's earlier Approval. At the Hearing our support community turned out in force. Many spoke and everyone had something worthwhile to say. Our efforts paid off. This may not be the end of the project, but we won an important battle.
On November 10th the Commission issued the following Determination formalizing its Sept. 7th vote to Deny. Follow the ink at the bottom of this page for the full Determination Letter with the Commission's explanation and justification for it ruling. It is a strongly worded Letter, reiterating many of the points we made. The Applicant now has 90 days to file a legal Appeal of the Commission's Denial, if he so chooses. We will wait to see if that occurs.
